Anna

Photo post card mailed from Bazine, Kansas, Nov 11, 1909  to Mrs. Bieber, Bison, Kansas

Message received about this photo (originally listed as being Azina)

I do not know the identity of the woman in the photograph, but I wonder if her name could be Anna, instead of Azina.  Notice the tail of the 'A' in the word "Aunt," it appears to be the same as the tail on the 'A' of the signature.  If this is the case, then the name would be Anna, do you agree?

Another question is the addressee, if these are elaborate 'C's, and this is addressed to Mrs. C. C. Bieber, I do have information on her.  She is Mrs. Christian C. (Mary Jane Allen) Bieber.  She was born in Kankakee Co., IL, 12/18/1871 to James and Rebecca (Jackson) Allen.  She died September 8, 1960 at the Hadley Memorial Hospital in Hays, KS, and is buried in La Crosse, KS.

I am connected to the Allen family from the Bison area.  I do not find the names Anna or Azina in my list of nieces for Mary.  I would guess this is either a grand niece or her husband's niece.  At the time of his death (5/18/1950,) he had one surviving sister, Mrs. Sadie Hutchins of Bison.

Nor do I not find the names in my list of Allen descendents of the aunt and uncle mentioned in the body of message.  Here again, I would guess these are his relatives.  I hope this information is of help to someone.

I have a good deal of information on the Allen's that I would gladly share with anyone interested.  Perhaps they could assist me in solving a family mystery, and tell us exactly how it is we are related to the Allen's.  My great grandmother (Pearl Estella Allen) was raised in Bison by her great Aunt and Uncle, Charles and Mary Allen.  We do not know her father's name and are unable to determine exactly which Allen family he (and Pearl) belong with.

Respectfully,

My parents, one from Bazine and the other from Bison" tentatively identified the lady as Mrs. Sadie Hutchins of Bison. Mrs. Hutchins maiden name was Allen and she had a sister, Mary (Allen) Bieber and two brothers, Tom and Sherman. Their father was Clifford. I say tentatively identify because Mrs. Hutchins lived in Bison and the card was mailed from Bazine which would lead us to believe that the subject live in Bazine. I will continue to inquire and feel free to e-mail me directly at jschaben@hotmail.com. Tom Allen had a son, Clifford Lester Allen, who was my uncle.
